Research topics

My current research topic are Arctic coastal wetlands in Alaska. I work on assessing the extent of these wetlands in Beringia since the Last Glacial Maximum in order to estimate past methane fluxes from these landscapes.

The flooding and inundation of widespread areas in Beringia might have contributed to increased atmospheric methane concentrations in the past. This assessment will help us to understand current sea level rise and inundation of coastal permafrost areas and their role in the permafrost carbon climate feedback.
