How and why is global change affecting marine biodiversity? How does this change affect marine ecosystems and their functions? And how can society adapt or mitigate consequences? Scientists at the Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity (HIFMB) investigate these questions. The institute is a cooperation of the AWI with the University of Oldenburg.

The HIFMB is located west of the Oldenburg city in the Wechloy district.
Trains of Deutsche Bahn and NordWestBahn (NWB) operate at regular intervals from Bremen, Osnabrück and Wilhelmshaven to Oldenburg. From the train station you can take the bus lines 306 (direction Universität, to Kurt-Hubert-Straße) and 310 (direction Famila or Wehnen, to Pophankenweg) to HIFMB.
You drive on the A 28 to Oldenburg-Wechloy and take exit 10 there. The HIFMB is about 1 kilometre away.
