Ice-bed, ice-edge, Russell Glacier site SHR revisited
May 2014
We revisited site SHR, at 15 km from the snout of Russell. Aim was to collect a 5 km continuous seismic profile parallel to the ice flow and two 1 km cross lines at areas where we suspected the presence of water. Purpose was to characterize the sub-glacial conditions.
We man hauled a 300 m, 96 channel snow streamer along the same 5 km parallel line set out at SHR in 2013. The shot interval was 75 m (different streamer). As source we used 250 g dynamite cartridges in 2 m deep boreholes.
Here we collected :
- 5 km 2-fold profile line parallel to the ice flow, 62 shots, shot interval 75 m
- 1 km 2-fold profile line crossline, 13 shots, shot interval 75 m
- 1 km 2-fold profile line crossline, 13 shots, shot interval 75 m
- Amplitude versus Offset (AVO) data, 6 shots, offset range 10-1800 m
- Amplitude versus Offset (AVO) data, 3 shots, offset range 150-1050 m
