Trophodynamics - Food Matters

The supply and utilization of energy is the most important biological process. Heterothrophic organisms depend on the uptake and utilization of external organic matter to gain metabolic energy. We investigate both the biochemical and ecological aspects of trophic interactions of organisms in the laboratory and in their habitats.
Our research covers molecular, physiological, and integrative organismic approaches. Besides basic research, we address applied aspects in ecotoxicology, biotechnology, and aquaculture.

Selection of Projects and Research Topics

We are obligated in the training and academic qualification of students at the University of Bremen and are happy to offer interesting topics for Bachelor and Master Theses. External students are welcome as well. If you are interested to conduct your thesis in our lab, please contact Dr. Reinhard Saborowski or Dr. Lukas Miksch.
