The eighth cohort of the NF-POGO Centre of Excellence in Observational Oceanography at the Alfred Wegener Institute successfully completed their training on October 26, 2021.
Of the total of ten young marine scientists, two from Oceania could only participate online in the training program, which is funded by the Nippon Foundation and the Partnership for the Observation of the Global Ocean (POGO), due to the pandemic. These two presented their final theses today, as did the eight fellows who had participated in the program for the past months on Helgoland. In a video conference, teachers and partners from the home institutes were also present to view the presentations, exchange ideas and congratulate the graduates.
