Arranging work and family life is a high priority at all locations of the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research. This is also proven by the repeated awarding of the berufundfamilie Service GmbH audit certificate, which has now been presented for the fifth time in a row to Winfried Hebold-Heitz and Ines Foellscher from the family office.
"As an international research center, we face the family policy challenges of the 21st century," says Winfried Hebold-Heitz. "Joint success means for us that we always have the interests of the profession and the needs of the families in mind on an equal footing.
"In general, the audit berufundfamilie is regarded as the proof of quality of a family and life-phase-aware personnel policy, which has therefore been officially certified by the AWI since 2005. However, the combination of work and private life in a flexible environment also poses many challenges, confirms Winfried Hebold-Heitz: "This also includes a wide range of supportive services - from day nursery and childcare to caring for relatives - as well flexible working hours and mobile work. As a family-friendly institute, the AWI aspires to be an attractive employer for people from all over the world. Tolerance and cosmopolitanism are therefore just as central to the Alfred Wegener Institute as equal opportunities, promotion of young talent and a good work-life balance. "
