With the annual REKLIM Report, the Helmholtz Climate Initiative Regional Climate Change (REKLIM) addresses actors in politics, business and society as well as the interested public. The reports offer the opportunity to follow the progress made and to discover new findings and results of the research initiative. This is done in a specially prepared way using an understandable language. In addition, the four Helmholtz Climate Offices being an important part of the knowledge transfer activities of REKLIM present their REKLIM-relevant activities in the report. Young researchers have the opportunity to present their scientific work and contributions to REKLIM via brief portraits. Thus, the REKLIM report is a showcase for the public to inform themselves about the research priorities of the climate initiative and to get in touch as needed.
The Climate Office for Polar Regions and Sea Level Rise at the AWI and the Helmholtz Climate Initiative REKLIM have translated and published the FAQ of Working Group 1 of the IPCC in German language together with the German IPCC Coordination Office. This is an important contribution to making the scientific findings of the 5th Assessment Report available to the broad public. The translated 29 questions and answers into German language can be downloaded.
Tracking Change – Climate Research in Polar Regions: Under this title the new magazine for climate research in the Polar Regions of the Alfred Wegener Institute has been published. In fifteen contributions, interviews and various infographics, readers will receive an up-to-date overview of the state of climate research in the Polar Regions. Every day, scientists at the Alfred Wegener Institute collect countless data and work with sophisticated climate models to study and understand climatic changes in the Polar Regions as accurately as possible and to derive statements about the future development of our climate.
Since the middle of the last century, mussel beds and their rich associated species community disappeared from the permanently submerged area of the Wadden Sea due to intensive fishery. This report explains the occurrence of former subtidal mussel beds in the Wadden Sea, describes their ecology and mentions the requirements for the return of these unique habitas.

In context of the international REKLIM conference "Our Climate - Our Future", REKLIM realized in cooperation with the DEKRA Hochschule für Medien in Berlin a media project tailored to the conference. The innovative project aims to catch the attention of the young generation for the topic of regional climate change and to make them interested in the work of scientists. Conversely, the scientists had a unique opportunity to work together with young people on a creative implementation of their topics and to practice the communication of their scientific work to an interested public. As early as the summer months of 2014, students of the degree program Television & Film of the DEKRA Hochschule produced five short documentaries on selected research topics of the REKLIM initiative and three viral videos that were intended to draw attention to the conference beforehand.
